Almost 200 people turned out for the Redmond Community Centre’s annual Give and Take day and Recyclathon on January 23, swapping all sorts of items, having electric items repaired and enjoying a sensational lunch.

In its third year, the event is a great way to get rid of surplus items or pick up a bargain. It not only prevents waste but means “unloved” but still useful items will find a new home.
As ever, there was a wide variety of donations this time, ranging from books, clothes, pots and pans, rugs to furniture. Plenty of volunteers were on hand to sort out everything and competition for many of the donations was keen.
A team of Hackney Fixers was also available, to help fix any electrical or electronic items that were broken, abandoned or considered “unfixable” by their owners.
Bargain-hunting can really work up an appetite, so all those who attended were treated to a delicious Manor House PACT meal of vegetarian pizzas and warm vegetable soup.
