MHDT has partnered up with ISS Facility Services, My Social Innovation, Young Hackney and Be Safety to create a new grounds maintenance company for young Hackney residents to run themselves. This company has been named Brighter Environment by the panel of young people aged 16-19.
The partners are providing training and support to the young people in running a business and practical maintenance work. Once the company has built a track record in delivering cleaning contracts and the young people have developed the necessary skills and confidence, the company will become independent and completely youth-led.
One of the training courses MHDT ran was Get High, which provided Working at Heights accredited training.
In July 2013, Brighter Environment received a cheque for £5,000 from ISS Facility Services.
