Manor House Development Trust is a spin out organisation of Hackney Homes and in 2013 we became financially independent. In 2014, Hackney Council granted MHDT the lease of the Redmond Community Centre along with £60,000 to support community development in Hackney. Previously, we have been fortunate to receive funding from the Council and Hackney Homes to support projects including:
- Woodberry Works
- Positive Activities for Young People
Genesis recently announced a new partnership with Manor House Development Trust to coordinate community development on the Woodberry Down estate. This includes Genesis funding of £60,000 a year.
The Big Lottery Fund has funded a number of MHDT projects throughout the years, including:
MHDT is one of the partners on the Woodberry Wetlands project which has received an initial grant of £84,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
HACT funded a partnership between MHDT and Genesis Housing Association to coordinate the intergenerational Age2Age programme on the Woodberry Down estate from 2009-2011. It created activities for all generations to enjoy together and to build positive relationships across the community.
Manor House Development Trust has been successful in becoming a champion organisation as part of the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC), Big Energy Saving Network.
The Big Energy Saving Network aims to reach out to the local community and deliver a programme of events to increase awareness of how you can take practical steps to address rising energy costs by making informed decisions about payment options, tariffs, switching and energy efficiency schemes.
This project will sit alongside the work we are doing on the Manor House PACT projectaround energy efficiency measures and bring more benefits to local people including advice and practical help to access discounts on energy bills and to provide assisted action with switching.
