Our PACT meals added a dash of the culinary to a sprinkling of community spirit and combined it with a carbon reduction ethos which felt and tasted great!
When food is thrown away, the carbon that went into growing, harvesting, transporting and cooking it is wasted. PACT meals aimed to reduce food waste, by working with local shopkeepers and food growers to source ingredients which would otherwise be thrown away and then combined it with our team of volunteers to make a delicious feast for the community.
PACT Meals are supposed to be fun but we also hoped that by engaging our local community through food we could introduce people to new ingredients, promote meat free meals and also highlight the idea of reducing food waste at home that participants can share with their family, friends and neighbours and all of this was able to be delivered by the project.
PACT Meals are ran in partnership with Transition Finsbury Park and Manor House Development Trust and wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of the local shopkeepers and volunteers who generously donate their food every time we ran a meal.
