Following the success of the Hackney Restart party at the Redmond Community Centre in Manor House at the start of February, local  residents were given a surprise when they appeared on a BBC London News report highlighting the event.

The news piece serves to show what a wonderful day we had and how many residents walked away with a satisfied smile because their broken appliances had been fixed.

Electronic waste is going to become an increasing problem in the 21st century so the Restart initiative is a great way to reduce waste, promote reuse and is brought about because of the community spirit of volunteer repairers giving up their time to share their skills and teach others. The event was delivered in partnership with Sustainable Hackney and Friends of the Earth.
