Young Hackney needs volunteers to lead its half-term programme. If you are creative, with ideas for arts and crafts workshops with children and young people, this opportunity is perfect for you.
Role: Leading Arts and Craft Activities
Reports to: Modi Abdoul – Team Leader at The Edge Youth Hub
Description: Based in Woodberry Down, The Edge Youth Hub is part of Young Hackney and provides a series of services and activities for young people aged from eight to 19 years.
In order to revive The Edge’s half-term programme, we are looking for volunteers interested in delivering arts and crafts sessions to children/young people.
Volunteers will help with the following tasks:
We’re looking for people such as jewellery makers, artists, and knitters – anyone with arts and crafts skills. Volunteers will deliver sessions on different activities, demonstrate how to make several different items and also help the children and young people who attend.
When you can help us:
The activities are for children and young people who attend The Edge Youth Hub during the half term break between February 15 and 19. Activities can take part in the morning or afternoon, which can be discussed with the Youth Coordinator.
What you can get:
As part of the team you will get a lot of experience with working with children, which can be useful for future career prospects. Young Hackney will support you on all activities and provide a reference detailing your experience. You will also have the chance to enjoy the projects and activities that you lead and make a direct impact on young people’s lives.
We will also pay for travel expenses, lunch (if working more than four hours) and materials for the sessions.
Please note: In order to work with children, young people and vulnerable adults you will have to undergo a DBS check and must not have any criminal records.
