Saturday 6th of June saw the return of the annual Woodberry Down Fun day. Always popular with residents the theme this year was street market which provided a fantastic opportunity for the community to get together.
“I think that this whole event has been something positive for the local area. The fun day has brought the community together and given out some important information on what’s going on in the area as well as future plans for the area”
Manor House Development Trust was well represented with help from 31 volunteers from within the local area including 16 young people from the Edge youth hub, providing help to organise, clean and steward the days events. The MHDT stall was able to give out a huge amount of information on local community events and activities. Projects that were developed and supported by MHDT were also out in full force.
Manor House PACT provided residents with information on its activities and ran a Bird Box Building Session in partnership with London Wildlife Trust, Wheelie Tots gave small children their first cycling lessons on balance bikes while local resident Didi Baldwin lead a garden activity with young children and their families which included painting pot plants and planting seeds.
A great addition to this years event was the support from local residents in which they help to provide different types of food such as multi-cultural dishes, hot dogs, healthy cakes and other treats for the event which was all free. The fun day had a lot of help with the food especially from Playful Hearts, a new social enterprise that specialises in gorgeous, natural, organic and guilt free treats!
